Clockwork Princess Broke My Heart: A BOOK REVIEW

Clockwork Princess (1).jpg

Oh. My. God. This was life-changing. One of the bests books I’ve read in my life.

Danger and betrayal, love and loss, secrets and enchantment are woven together in the breathtaking finale to the #1 New York Times bestselling Infernal Devices Trilogy, prequel to the internationally bestselling Mortal Instruments series.

A net of shadows begins to tighten around the Shadowhunters of the London Institute. Mortmain plans to use his Infernal Devices, an army of pitiless automatons, to destroy the Shadowhunters. He needs only one last item to complete his plan: he needs Tessa Gray.

Charlotte Branwell, head of the London Institute, is desperate to find Mortmain before he strikes. But when Mortmain abducts Tessa, the boys who lay equal claim to her heart, Jem and Will, will do anything to save her. For though Tessa and Jem are now engaged, Will is as much in love with her as ever.

As those who love Tessa rally to rescue her from Mortmain’s clutches, Tessa realizes that the only person who can save her is herself. But can a single girl, even one who can command the power of angels, face down an entire army?

Danger and betrayal, secrets and enchantment, and the tangled threads of love and loss intertwine as the Shadowhunters are pushed to the very brink of destruction in the breathtaking conclusion to the Infernal Devices trilogy.

First, we will begin at the beginning. As one usually does. How do Silent Brothers not realize that it is the wrong girl? I feel like that is a thing they should be able to do. It really is awful when someone dies because of runes or the Mortal Cup (SHADOWHUNTER ACADEMY AHEM AHEM). No. This was one of the weirdest prologues I’ve ever read.

OH MY FREAKING GOD. THIS BOOK WAS EVERYTHING. The whole worm bit. “Father is a worm” Haha both literal and metaphoric. Cecily just goes in, stabs that worm demon man, and gets out. That’s a shadowhunter if I ever saw one. This is the only time Will could have possibly done a better job (not counting when he opened the pyxis when he was twelve). Hey, at least he has a brave sister who freaking saved the day.

WHAT the heck is up with that Jem/Brother Zachariah thing??? I thought Jem was DEAD (jk I was SPOILED) thanks, interwebs. :|. But it hurt, inside, when Will felt the connection to Jem be severed. GOD THE FEELS. But, then again, Will wasn’t dead yet. WHAT THE HECK THOUGH. WHY WHY WHY WHY WHyYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY. Everything and what and ughhhhhhh. Twisttwisttwists.

Jessamine. That freaking traitor. But she’s okay enough as ghost. Hey, she protected the London Institute from Sebastian! During CoHF, I was just like: WWWOOOOOO THROWBACK TO THE 1800s WITH THE WHOLE CREW WILL JEM TESSA YYYYEEESSSSS. I get excited about references. But, the only person missing from the crew in the modern dayz is WILL.

I cant. Who knew that the poor angel Valentine had shackled in his basement spent his past time, uh, locked in a necklace? #notlivingthelife. Man, his life is TERRIBLE. Ithuriel just can’t catch a break. I DID NOT KNOW THAT TESSA COULD TURN INTO FREAKING ANGELS. WHAT. BEST. ENDING. EVER. Poor paralyzed Henry! And just everything was just AAHHHHHHH AND AHHHHHHH!

Now I will talk about Will Herondale’s death. This was the most disturbing and feels-racked character death I’ve ever read about. IT FREAKING BROKE MY HEART AND STOMPED ON IT AND SPAT ON ITS REMAINS. HE SEEMS TO BE THE ONLY ONE WHO ISN’T IMMORTAL OR SOMETHING CRAZY LIKE THAT. WHY DOES WILL HAVE TO DIE?!?!?!?!?! At least he died peacefully, with Tessa and Jem. But really! Why does the best and most amazing character I’ve ever read about, have to DIE!??!?!?! I will never get over this! Curse the duck who bit Will as a child! THIS WAS SCARRING AND BEAUTIFUL AND HEART WRENCHING AND I DID NOT WANT THIS PART IN THE BOOK.
