This was a fantastic penultimate book in a fabulous series!

This book was creepier than Miss Peregrine’s. It was so disturbing to see Jace like he was. It was scary to see him act in such a brotherly way towards Sebastian. It was SCARY. Man, he was, like, beyond possessed. Weird. I can’t believe how easily Jace succumbed to a dark rune, especially since he has lots of angelic blood. Sebastian was even scarier than Jace, trying to act like a brother. He is a bad actor. It’s like the angry calm, it is the sinister kindness. Oh my god, brothers do not treat their sisters the way Sebastian treats Clary. SCARY. CREEP.

Ugh. If it was so easy to make another Mortal Cup, then wouldn’t there be thousands of replicas already floating around causing chaos????? That moment when Not-Jace turns back into Jace for a minute was SO FRUSTRATING. I was mad that Clary told Sebastian, but relieved that he wouldn’t be murdered by the Silent Brothers. That whole portion with Jace, Sebastian, and Clary was so uncomfortable.

Simon. Clever as heck. Genius, really. It’s weird that an “all powerful” type angel like Raziel is still vulnerable to the Mark of Cain. But, oh my god, it worked so well. How is that Valentine, the crazy psychopath, was unable realize that he would be killed by Raziel like this:

Throwback to, uh, City of Glass? Dat sword, Glorious, would be so useful, like, all of the times that ever happened ever. Sebastian could’ve been gone much faster. Just sacrifice Jace! I just would’ve gone on, knowing that Jace would have been with Will and his parents and family. Gosh.

I feel like few things actually happened in this books, and there was just too much detail for few main events. I’m going to give this book four stars. But, overall, this was a very good book in a great fictional world. Thanks for reading!
